Viatris joins the captains of Team Congress and Team Bad News Babes ahead of the 2024 Congressional Women’s Softball Game.
Founded in 2009, the Congressional Women’s Softball Game brings together female Members of Congress to compete against women of the Washington, DC press corps. This annual event supports Young Survival Coalition (YSC), an organization committed to strengthening the community, addressing the unique needs, amplifying the voice, and improving the quality of life of young adults affected by breast cancer. Viatris has proudly served as the leading sponsor of this event since 2018, contributing to a grand total of over $4.3 Million raised for YSC.
The critical importance of YSC’s work is underscored by the stories of the many young adults the organization has supported through the years. A proud member of YSC, Viatris’ own Cara Bisegna shares her firsthand experience being diagnosed with breast cancer:
Despite witnessing breast cancer in my family from a young age, nobody could have prepared me for my own diagnosis at age 36. Looking back as a survivor, I am grateful to have caught my cancer early in its progression and recognize the importance of advocating for your health at all ages.
Throughout her journey, Cara has benefitted from a strong support network and ready access to information. These constitute two of the most pressing needs for individuals battling cancer. We are grateful for the opportunity to support an organization like YSC, which has been working to address these since its grassroots beginning in 1988. Now an international movement, YSC offers more than 170 “Face 2 Face” local networking groups, frequent virtual hangouts, and an extensive catalog of online resources covering everything from family planning and insurance details to radiation therapy basics and stress management techniques.
