Earlier this month, Viatris proudly supported the 27th Annual Prevent Cancer Foundation Gala in Washington DC. This year’s event raised more than $2 million for the Foundation’s programs which include research grants, community outreach grants and public education campaigns focused on cancer awareness, prevention, and screenings. A patient organization focused on saving lives through prevention and detection, Prevent Cancer plans to invest $20 million in innovation for early detection and screening, $10 million to expand access to screenings and vaccinations for underserved communities and $10 million to educate about screening and vaccination. All these investments ladder up to Prevent Cancer’s long-term goal which is to reduce cancer deaths by 40% by 2035.1
Every year at the gala, Prevent Cancer honors two Members of Congress as Cancer Champions. This year the Foundation recognized Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina and Representative Debbie Dingell of Michigan as Cancer Champions for their work in cancer prevention and advocacy.
As a company with one of the largest oncology portfolios in the US, Viatris is focused on supporting cancer patients from diagnosis to treatment. Right now, one in 3 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.2 As a healthcare company focused on helping people live healthier at every stage of life, Viatris understands that access is one of the most important barriers to overcome. We understand access for patients does not just begin with medicine and treatment. Our partnership with Prevent Cancer looks beyond medicines to focus on prevention and early detection, key factors for patient education and survival.
